Annual Membership Meeting
The St. Martin Council on Aging, Inc. will hold its Annual Membership meeting on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at the Sydnie Mae Durand Activity Center located at 391 Cannery Road, Breaux Bridge. Elections for the SMCOA Board of Directors will be conducted and Administrative staff will provide the annual financial report and important information on services offered to seniors in the parish.
Members and non-members can attend this meeting. What’s the difference? Non-members are allowed to participate but are not allowed to vote at the annual meeting; nor can they serve on the Board of Directors.
Not a member? Membership is open to all residents of St. Martin Parish who have reached the age of majority. There are no membership fees and sign up is easy – just fill out a membership card. Membership cards may be picked up at the Sydnie Mae Durand Activity Center located at 391 Cannery Road in Breaux Bridge or contact SMCOA at (337) 332-3063 to request that cards be mailed.
Membership cards must be received by SMCOA no later than Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
Interested in serving on the Board? Board members will be elected by the general membership during SMCOA’s Annual meeting. There are currently three vacancies to be filled. The term of office is three years; Board members serve two terms. Nominations can be submitted in two ways:
1) contact Mr. Allan D. Clark, Chairman of the Board Development/Nominating Committee, via SMCOA at (337) 332-3063 or
2) present nominations from the floor on election day.
Interested parties must complete an application prior to the Annual meeting and be prepared to submit a resume verifying previous Board experience. A copy of the application may be picked up at the SMCOA office and may also be found on the agency’s website.
There will be an Open House at 8:00 a.m., and light refreshments will be served.
